Gucci L’Obscur Mascara
I ordered this mascara first from Gucci online, partly because I wanted the full effect of the packaging. The presentation is the start of any product, sure it looks amazing online, but what about when you actually receive the product at your home? Gucci did an amazing job. It came beautifully wrapped and the mascara tube is so lovely and feminine. It has a light pink bottle with a gold, vintage inspired top. The top/wand is actually heavier than I had expected.
Naturally, I have blonde, somewhat long eyelashes, but without any mascara at all, it looks like I don’t have eyelashes (haha!). To combat this little problem of mine, even if I don’t wear a full face of makeup everyday, I generally do a quick swipe of mascara. This helps me look awake and accentuates my eyes.
Gucci’s mascara goes on so smoothly and is a very natural look. It isn’t the “Wow! You are wearing a lot of mascara!” look, but it does a wonderful job of pronouncing your eyes, subtly. I apply a few swipes over both eyes each morning and on the occasion I do want a fuller eye, I layer it with the Chanel Le Volume mascara and this creates a very dramatic eye. It isn’t clumpy at all and has a skinny wand that makes it very easy to do your bottom lashes.
Another interesting piece of information I found was from an article in Instyle. They spoke with Thomas de Kluyver, one of Gucci’s Global Makeup Artists, who said there were two ways to apply the Gucci Mascara. If you apply it by holding the wand horizontally, you will get a clean, classic look that separates the lashes. However, if you apply the mascara by holding the wand vertically, it will create a bolder, more punk, fuller look full of volume.
